Low Key Deoderant
Frangrance System & Packaging Design
Case Study
LOW KEY is a conceptual deodorant and fragrance system built around understated confidence and tactile masculinity. Instead of leaning on loud “extreme sport” branding common in the category, the goal was to create a product line that feels grounded, atmospheric, and design-forward — something that could live equally comfortably in a modern bathroom, studio space, or retail environment.
The Challenge
The men’s personal care aisle is saturated with loud, hyper-masculine branding that often feels visually repetitive. LOW KEY set out to create a deodorant brand that felt more refined and atmospheric while still maintaining strong shelf presence and clear scent differentiation.
LOW KEY was developed as a conceptual fragrance system centered around understated confidence and material-inspired scent profiles — Resin, Sawdust, and Steel. Bold typography, translucent color-coded caps, and layered textures created a cohesive packaging system that feels minimal at a distance while revealing depth and personality up close.
Audience Insight
A growing segment of younger consumers are gravitating toward personal care brands that feel more intentional, design-conscious, and emotionally grounded. Instead of exaggerated masculinity and overpowering fragrance cues, they’re drawn to products that feel understated, curated, and aligned with their personal aesthetic.
LOW KEY was designed to speak to that audience — consumers who value atmosphere, materiality, and subtle confidence as much as product performance.
Outcome
The final result is a flexible fragrance system with strong shelf presence and room for future expansion. LOW KEY successfully balances minimal structure with expressive texture, creating a brand world that feels modern, understated, and visually distinct within the men’s personal care space.
